Hardy: EPA's onerous, top-down rule will hurt families' pocketbooks

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Cresent Hardy (NV-4) today issued a statement in light of President Barack Obama's announcement of the EPA's announcement of a final rule regarding carbon dioxide output from power plants.

The congressman earlier this year helped pass in the House the Ratepayer Protection Act of 2015, H.R. 2042, to give states more time to comply in the face of onerous regulations forced on them by the EPA.

"Families across the country are going to end up paying 15 percent more on their energy bills just because the Obama administration won't rely on anything other than top-down, heavy regulation to fix the world's problems," Hardy said. "Nevada and other states should continue to lead the way to safely and responsibly develop options tailored to the resources in each state."
